Frequently asked questions
Booking
Do I need an account to book?
No. You book directly, without an account. Once your booking is confirmed, you get an email with your booking number, a QR code for pick-up and a personal link where you can view your booking and request changes.
What details do I need to fill in?
The rental period and your estimated pick-up and return times, then the number of adults and children.
For each person: name, height, weight, shoe size (EU) and level. For children, their age as well. You can add notes, for example if you prefer wider ski boots.
Finally, your contact details: first name, last name, phone and email. The confirmation and QR code are sent by email.
How far in advance can I book?
You can book at least 2 hours before pick-up and up to 180 days in advance. An online booking can cover up to 6 days and 12 people.
Availability is checked in real time, and the equipment is held for you as soon as your booking is confirmed.
How do I change or cancel a booking?
Open the personal link in your confirmation email, or go to the My booking page and enter your booking number and email. There, choose “Request a change” or “Request cancellation” and tell us what you'd like to change.
Our team checks availability and confirms by email. The conditions for changes and cancellations are set out in the rental terms and conditions.
Equipment
How are sizes chosen?
Based on height, weight, level and shoe size, we automatically suggest the length of the skis, the size of the ski boots and the length of the poles, from the equipment that's actually available.
These suggestions are a guide. At pick-up you try on the boots, and our staff make the final choice and adjust the bindings to your weight, level and boots.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
We recommend one for everyone, and for children we consider it a must. Also check the rules of the ski area you're going to.
A helmet is included in the full sets and can also be rented separately.
What should I do if my equipment breaks on the slope?
Stop somewhere safe at the edge of the slope, and don't keep using the equipment if the binding no longer holds your boot or if the ski is cracked. Don't try to adjust the bindings yourself.
Bring the equipment to the rental desk during opening hours. We'll check it and find a solution together: an adjustment, a repair or, subject to availability, replacement equipment. You can also let us know by phone on +40 750 466 009 or by email at contact@avantski.ro.
If someone is injured, alert the mountain rescue service (Salvamont) immediately or call 112.
Pick-up
What documents do I need at pick-up?
Your booking QR code (on your phone or printed) and a valid ID document of the adult collecting the equipment.
The ID document is photographed at the desk. The photo is stored encrypted and deleted automatically 14 days after the rental ends, unless a damage claim is in progress. We don't store your personal identification number separately.
What do I sign at pick-up?
At the desk you read and sign two documents on a tablet: the consent to the processing of personal data (GDPR) and the declaration accepting the risks of skiing.
The adult collecting the equipment also signs for the children in the booking. The signed documents are kept as proof of consent.
Can I rent equipment for children?
Yes. We have equipment sized for children. The child rate applies from 3 to 11 years old; from 12, the adult rate applies.
An adult makes the booking and picks up the equipment, and is responsible for the child and their equipment for the whole rental.
Payment and return
Do I pay at pick-up or online?
Pay at pick-up, at the desk.
We don't accept online payments at the moment.
Prices include 21% VAT.
Is a deposit required?
For every item you rent a deposit is left at pick-up. You get it back in full when you return the equipment in good condition. Deposit amounts: Full ski set — RON 500.00; Skis — RON 300.00; Ski boots — RON 250.00; Poles — RON 50.00; Helmet — RON 150.00.
Only amounts owed for late returns, damage or missing items found when you return the equipment can be deducted from the deposit.
What happens if I return the equipment late?
You have a grace period of one hour after the agreed return time.
After the grace period, we recalculate the price for the actual rental time at the same rates, and you only pay the difference.
Because calendar days are charged, a delay of a few hours on the same day usually doesn't change the price; returning the next day adds at least one day.
What if the equipment gets damaged or lost?
You don't pay for normal wear and tear. When you return the equipment, we check it together with you. Damage caused by improper use, or loss of the equipment, is charged according to the terms and conditions.
